MULLED wine or GLÜHWEIN, also know as spiced heated red wine, is made with various mulling spices like cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, star anise, orange zest, raisins and served with slices of oranges or lemon. It's a traditional winter drink, especially during Christmas. Served hot or warm, it's quite a favourite to almost all Swiss. One can literally smell the fragrance of Glühwein in the air at Christmas markets. A distinct Swiss tradition is less known in other parts of the world.
